Lions Youth Exchange Students Enjoy a Taste of Somerset

Four students enjoyed a taste of Somerset as part of their 2017 Lions Clubs International Youth Exchange.  The students, from Switzerland, Canada, Greece and Indonesia, were hosted by Cheddar Vale and Radstock & Midsomer Norton Lions Clubs, from 26th July to 4th August. The varied programme of events for the students included visits to Wells, Glastonbury, Bath and Cardiff.  They got a taste for Cheddar cheese when they visited the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company and for Thatcher’s cider when they had a guided tour at Myrtle Farm. They were also introduced to the traditional game of skittles at the New Inn, Wedmore.

The visiting students were joined by Amy-Leigh Shepheard, who has recently returned from an Outward Lions Youth Exchange to Italy, where she “had an amazing time and made friends for life.”

The Lions International Youth Exchange is an annual programme, which culminates with 40 Youth Exchange Students from all over the world, hosted by Lions Clubs all over the UK,  joining together at a Youth Camp,  this year it was held in Worcester from 4th – 14th August.
