Basic page editing

When the cursor is flashing in a block of text, you may start typing or use the backspace, delete, home, end, page up, page down and cursor keys. You may use the control panel to make text bold or italic but it will probably be easier to use ctrl B and ctrl I respectively. Use ctrl U to underline text if you must, but most of your web site visitors would expect an underlined word to be a link. Our links are not usually underlined because some partially sighted people can have difficulty in reading those words. You cannot enter a tab as it will not appear in browser pages. You may press insert to toggle text overwriting and inserting.

When you press carriage return or enter you will get a new paragraph with extra line spacing, but if you want a new line but with the same spacing, hold shift whilst pressing enter. This is called a 'break'.
Similarly, you may not want two or more words to break onto another line. If so, hold shift and ctrl whilst pressing space. This is called a 'non breaking space'.

As well as right clicking on the page to see a context sensitive menu, you may perform standard Windows editing functions such as undo using the following: Ctrl Z undo. Ctrl Y redo. Ctrl X cut. Ctrl C copy. Ctrl V paste. Ctrl A select all.

Important! If you make changes to a page and then select another page, your changes will be lost! Ensure you save your changes first. You will receive a warning prior to switching.

Background Colour Background colour Highlight a whole Paragraph (or several paragraphs) to change the background colour. The colours are predefined and the paragraph width may alter. Click in the paragraph and click the Remove background colour icon Background Colour to revert to normal.

This is an example of a paragraph with the alternative background colour. If you would like a different colour scheme or the width changed, please contact us. There is no charge.

This becomes much more effective when several paragraphs are used to highlight a feature of your product or service. Normal editing is still active and you may insert tables, images etc.

Page Columns Page Columns Click on the Page Columns button to create 3 columns across the page. If the cursor is in a paragraph, it will be inserted into the first column. When logged in, dotted lines will be there as guides but won't display when logged out.
