Tutorial

Welcome to the Squarezone Club Sites web site editing system. This tutorial will guide you as you set up your own pages. The tutorial only appears when you wish to edit pages and will always be available as a convenient reference.

Overview

When you edit your page, using familiar wordprocessor methods, you will see exactly how it will look when published. You may move around the page using the cursor keys or by left clicking the mouse on a word or image. If the cursor does not appear, left click in the page text. You may right click on the page to see a context sensitive menu with undo, cut, copy, paste, delete and select all options for text. Other options may also appear depending on your browser, and when you right click on an image.

Left click on the page title Tutorial above. Notice that the H1 button on the Control Panel becomes active. Now left click on the paragraph title Overview, and notice that the H2 button becomes active. These are Heading styles. With the cursor still flashing on Overview, click on H6 on the Control Panel. It is that easy to change the style of any block of text. Try each of the heading styles in turn. Tip: Search engines expect just one H1 style on a page and might downgrade your website if you have more than one.

Important! Ensure that the text you wish to change has focus before clicking on any of the formatting buttons on the Control Panel. To set the focus, left click on the text. You will need to do this after clicking on any other part of the screen.

The Squarezone Club-sites control panel enables you to:

Each of the buttons of the Control Panel have tool tips that display their function when you hover the mouse over the button. In addition, the status line will display brief instructions. If you cannot see the status line at the bottom of this window, click on the View menu and check Status Bar. When you left click on a block of text, the status bar will display the HTML tag for that part of the text. Left click on the words Status Bar above and the status bar will display <b> which means display as bold.

When you save a page, your changes are saved on our server but that page will not be visible to your web site visitors just yet. You may close the browser and at a later date, when you wish to resume editing, your changed page will reappear, instead of the published page. When you are happy with the changes, you must publish them. Only then do they become available to your visitors. In this way, you can be sure that your visitors do not see half finished pages. If you start editing a page and want to abandon your changes, before saving, switch to another page and back again. You will be given a warning about saving your page.
